Notre Dame football: Irish survive major scare, beat FSU in OT, 41-38

Where do the Irish go from here?

Coan finished the game a few yards short of the record for passing yards in a season opener, and for the most part, he looked very good. This is an Irish offense that is going to be very tough to stop, but you have to be worried about the defense after the second-half performance against Florida State.

From here, the Irish will head home to Notre Dame Stadium for two straight games, as they play their home opener against Toledo next Saturday. After a year away, fans will be packed inside and should give the Irish a decided advantage over a lesser Toledo team. A week later, Purdue comes to town, before the Irish take on Wisconsin at Soldier Field in Game No. 4.

The victory over the Seminoles was a hard-fought one, and a scary one at times, but the fact is, they are 1-0 heading into Week 2. We saw plenty of teams struggle in Week 1, including a bunch who were upset, so getting out of Doak Campbell Stadium with the win has to be a sigh of relief for Brian Kelly and his staff.
