Notre Dame Football vs. Toledo: 3 things to watch for in Week 2

Rockets rushing attack against Notre Dame’s front seven

The Toledo Rockets may be a MAC team, and go into this game as huge underdogs, but one cannot overlook the fact that they have a solid rushing attack. Against Florida State, the Irish struggled against the run, as their three-man front was beaten time and time again, and they are also very thin at linebacker heading into this one.

Against Norfolk State, Toledo was able to control the clock by running the ball, as the combination of Bryant Koback and Da’Quan Finn averaged better than seven yards per carry. They also found the end zone three times between the two of them, as the Rockets jumped out to an early lead, and pummeled Norfolk State into submission.

Of course, Notre Dame is not Norfolk State, but we can see what the Rockets like to do, and it will be up to Marcus Freeman to dial-up a game plan to stop the run game. Koback is a terrific running back, and someone who is going to be featured big time in this game, but the Irish should definitely have enough talent on defense to suffocate what the Rockets like to do best, and that is establishing the run game.
