Notre Dame football: 3 keys to victory against Toledo in Week 2

Dominate in the trenches

It was no big secret that the Notre Dame football team could struggle a bit in Week 1, as they were replacing four outstanding starters along their offensive line. With Liam Eichenberg, Robert Hainsey, Tommy Kraemer, and Aaron Banks all gone, only Jarrett Patterson was left from last year’s squad.

However, there was also some experienced talent returning, as well as a true freshman who has looked terrific all summer long. Unfortunately, the Irish were pushed back far too often against the Seminoles, and they saw Blake Fisher have to leave the game with an injury.

On Saturday, the goal has to be to not only play better along the offensive line but also on defense, as Florida State got way too much chunk yardage against the Irish in Week 1. They should be able to accomplish this easily, but we won’t see Fisher, who is not listed on the two-deep depth chart and will be replaced by Michael Carmody, who came in for him against Florida State.
