Notre Dame football: 3 keys to victory against Toledo in Week 2

Erase any doubt early on

Whenever you are playing a lesser team, which the Irish will be on Saturday, it is always crucial to get out to an early lead and erase any doubt. On Sunday night, the Irish looked to be doing so against Florida State until the 89-yard touchdown run by Jashaun Corbin, which got the Seminoles, and the fans back into the game.

This weekend, the Irish will be playing in front of their home fans, and after not being able to attend games due to COVID-19 last season, the place should be rocking. The Irish need to go out on that field, and punch the Rockets in the mouth right away, getting out to an early lead and keeping their feet on the gas.

Sure, if the game gets out of hand in the second half, they can get some of their depth guys some work, but you never want to let a team believe they can win, especially on the road. Toledo does not have as much talent as Notre Dame on either side of the ball, and the Irish need to make that evident from the first possession on.
