The Notre Dame football team takes on the Toledo Rockets in Week 2, and here are three mistakes they must avoid in the home opener.

Fans will be jam-packed inside Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, as the Notre Dame football team opens up their 2021 season against the Toledo Rockets. Coming out of an action-filled season opener against Florida State, one that took overtime to come away with the victory, the Irish should feel much better about their chances at home in Week 2.

Toledo is a team that is a big underdog against the Irish, but Notre Dame football must avoid the costly mistakes to come away with the victory.

Taking Toledo too lightly

If there is one thing we have learned already during the 2021 college football season, it is that no team should be taken lightly. In Week 1, we saw unranked teams topple ranked teams, throwing a wrench into their College Football Playoff plans before the season really even got started.

For the Irish, they have to avoid this against Toledo, as they appear to be one of the weaker teams on their schedule, but are coming off a convincing win in Week 1. The Rockets are well-coached and run the ball very well, so you can expect them to come out firing against this Notre Dame defense, one that allowed 38 points to Florida State.
