Notre Dame football: 3 true freshmen who could see extended time vs. Toledo

Prince Kollie, Linebacker

It is no big secret that the Notre Dame football team has some issues at linebacker, as they lost Marist Liufau before the season even began, and Paul Moala in the season-opening win against Florida State. With a wide receiver moving to linebacker, it is a real indicator of how thin they are, which means it could be Prince Kollie’s time to make a real impact.

As was the case with Fisher, injuries are going to happen, and it is up to those behind the starters to step up and play a big role. Kollie will start the game behind J.D. Bertrand on the depth chart, but if the Irish get out to a big league, there is no way Marcus Freeman is going to risk another one of his starting linebackers getting hurt.

Kollie was one of the top-10 recruits in this year’s class, and everybody is clamoring to see what No. 32 can do on the football field. He looks the part, is athletic enough to dominate at the next level, and if the Irish play the way they are supposed to on Saturday, we could see a lot of him in the second half at least.
