Notre Dame football vs. Toledo: 3 bold predictions in Week 2

Four Wide Receivers Will Catch Touchdown Passes

Coming into this season, Notre Dame’s wide receivers were widely considered the biggest issue on the offense. Against Florida State, Notre Dame’s wide receivers stepped up and played better than they have in a long time. Against an inferior opponent like Toledo, you can expect this to continue and have the wide receivers execute all game long, scoring a touchdown with four different wide receivers.

Last week, Notre Dame had two wide receivers make touchdown catches, both of which were spectacular plays. Kevin Austin and Joe Wilkins both made spectacular touchdown grabs for the Irish. Expect them to do that again against a Toledo team that hasn’t seen talent like Notre Dame has to offer in recent memory.

Add Braden Lenzy and Avery Davis to the list of wide receivers who will get an opportunity, and you can expect a lot of points in the passing game.

It’s also worth noting that when I say that four different wide receivers will catch touchdown passes, I mean four different wide receivers. Tight ends will not be included in the count (sorry, Michael Mayer). Neither are running backs.

So, for this to come true, the Irish receivers will need to dominate.
