Notre Dame football vs. Toledo: 3 bold predictions in Week 2

Notre Dame Will Have Two 100 Yard Rushers

Last week, the Irish struggled in the running game. The offensive line was frankly dominated, and there was no room to run on the edges. This made the runs up the middle fairly predictable, and the Seminole stuffed any gaps that this brand new offensive line could muster.

Kyren Williams only averaged 2.8 yards per carry, while Chris Tyree struggled to a mere 31 yards on the night. Combined, Notre Dame ran for 70 yards total on the night.

That’s not right for this offense. This is a team whose identity is playing downhill and playing smash-mouth football. That’s why Notre Dame is going to stare down an inferior opponent and decide to run the ball right through them. There will be an implementation of wills, and Notre Dame will have more than one running back go for 100 yards or more.

Kyren Williams will be the primary back in the first half, and he’ll be used to land the initial punches on Toledo. Chris Tyree, as well as various other backups, are going to see significant playing time as well. This will give the Irish plenty of time to balance their rushing attack and let enough players touch the ball to have multiple hundred-yard rushers.
