The Notre Dame football team took on Toledo in Week 2, and the offense came up with some big plays late, leading to a close 32-29 victory.

Notre Dame football and Toledo was not a particularly fun game for anyone who cares about Notre Dame. It was a sloppy performance that the Irish seemed to be sleepwalking through. A lot of these struggles all came from one glaring issue, the offensive line, which is primed to cost Notre Dame several games this season.

Still, there were several things that Irish fans can hold onto from this game to be excited about. We got our first look at Tyler Buchner, and it was a good look. Jack Coan, meanwhile, showed leadership and resilience.

That’s a great combination for the quarterback room going forward. Their receivers still look great, and there is no denying that Michael Mayer is by far the best tight end in the country. The offense needs to find a way to put everything together going forward. They can’t afford to struggle like this against the better teams on their schedule, or the losses will pile up quickly.
