Notre Dame Football vs. Toledo: 3 things we learned in Week 2

Tyler Buchner is the real deal

It came in the first half, as the Irish looked stagnant on offense, and needed to bring in some spark at the quarterback spot. Sure, Jack Coan would end up coming back in the game, and coming back in a big way, but this game was about true freshman Tyler Buchner and his first regular-season action since his junior year of high school.

Buchner seemed unfazed by the moment, bringing the Irish to the Promised Land in his first drive, utilizing his arm, and his incredible feet. Later in the game, Buchner led the Irish to a fourth-quarter lead and looked to be taking over for Coan for good, until the Irish went back to the graduate transfer for the game-winning drive.

Since the Blue-Gold Game, fans have been wanting to see if Tyler Buchner is the real deal, and he proved to be on Saturday afternoon. To get your first collegiate action in a huge home game against Toledo, Buchner passed with flying colors, and you have to think a legitimate quarterback controversy is brewing in South Bend.
