Notre Dame Football vs. Purdue: 3 Boilermakers who must be stopped

David Bell, Wide Receiver

One of the more explosive wide receivers in the Big Ten this season is David Bell, who stepped in as a true freshman for Purdue and never looked back. On Saturday, he is a guy that could have his way with this Notre Dame defense, one that has shown a propensity for allowing the big play early in the season.

Last weekend against UConn, while Bell only had six catches, three of them went for touchdowns in an absolute drubbing of the Huskies. So far this season, Bell has already hauled in 14 catches for over 250 yards and those three stars and is someone that the Irish will have to shadow all game long.

A first-team All-Big Ten selection last season, Bell has taken over for Rondale Moore as the top wideout on this offense and has run with the job, becoming one of the best playmakers in the conference. He is the most talented wide receiver that the Irish will have seen so far this season, and could be in for a big day if the defense plays the way it has been.
