Notre Dame Football vs. Purdue: 3 Irish players to watch in Week 3

Clarence Lewis

The Notre Dame football team will take on a tough opponent on Saturday, especially in the passing game, as Jack Plummer has looked very good in 2021. Winning the starting job this summer, Plummer has yet to throw an interception, albeit against lesser competition, but he has become the leader of this Purdue offense.

Luckily for him, he has an elite target to throw to whenever he is in trouble, as David Bell is one of the best wide receivers in all of America. On Saturday, Bell is going to be the focal point of this offense, especially with the Boilermakers losing Zander Horvath, their top running back this past week against UConn.

The man who is likely to draw this assignment is sophomore cornerback Clarence Lewis, so all eyes will be on him this weekend inside Notre Dame Stadium. Lewis is a talented cornerback, that is for sure, but this is going to be one of his toughest matchups of the season, and if he loses his battle against Bell, it could be a long day for this secondary.

This kid has played in big games before and staring at 3-0, this is a huge one for the Irish on Saturday.
