3 totally reasonable expectations for Notre Dame football against Purdue in Week 3

Kyren Williams finally goes over 100 yards rushing

It has been a slow start to the season for Kyren Williams, the Irish’s do-everything running back who had a breakout year as a redshirt freshman last season. Against Florida State, Jack Coan set the program’s season opener record for passing yards, as the rushing game was rendered ineffective, and Toledo was able to stop them on the ground for the most part as well.

Against Purdue, that has to change, and the Irish have to go back to leaning on Williams, not only for yards, but also so that they can control the ball. He has yet to eclipse the 100-yard mark this season, or get 20 carries in a single game, and against the Boilermakers, that has to be a point of emphasis for this Irish offense.

Williams is a guy who can break the big play at any time, and if the Irish lean on him early, there is no reason why he can blow this expectation out of the water. Notre Dame football has plenty of talented running backs, but it all starts with Williams, who I believe breaks out in a big way against the Boilermakers defense in Week 3.
