The Notre Dame football team takes on Wisconsin on Saturday, and here are three keys to victory if they want to escape Soldier Field with a win.

The Notre Dame football team goes into their Saturday matchup against Wisconsin with an undefeated record, one that was pretty hard to come by. They have had to scratch and claw for every victory this season, and the Badgers could be the best team they will have faced up to this point.

Wisconsin is coming off their bye week, and nearly beat Penn State in their opener, so the Irish could have their hands full in this one. Here, we look at some keys if they want to leave Soldier Field 4-0.

Make Graham Mertz beat them

The Badgers have a solid run game, led by Chez Mellusi, and they have home run hitters who can dominate through the trenches, but also beat you outside. On Saturday, they will likely have their chances to make big plays, but the Irish cannot afford to let them have their way on the ground all game long.

In fact, they have to put the ball in Graham Mertz’s hands and force him to beat them in the passing game. Mertz is off to a so-so start this season and was not all too consistent as a freshman last year, and if the game is on the line late, and he has to make a play through the air, I like Notre Dame’s chances.
