Notre Dame Football vs. Wisconsin: Game preview and prediction
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football team takes on the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday, and here is a quick preview and prediction for the Week 4 matchup at Soldier Field.
On Saturday, the Notre Dame football team will take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a College Gameday matchup inside Soldier Field. The Irish go into this game sitting at 3-0, and as the No. 12-ranked team in the country, though it has not been easy for them to get there.
Notre Dame has had to gut it out every step of the way, and while it has not been pretty, they still do not have a blemish on their record. In Week 4, they take on a Badgers team that not only is coming off a bye but one who lost their opener in a close one at home against Penn State, who happens to be the No. 6 team in the country right now.
For the Irish to beat the No. 18 team in the land, they will have to get back to doing what they do best, and that is running the football and controlling the clock. After rushing for over 1,000 yards last season, Kyren Williams has yet to break the 100-yard mark in a game in 2021, something that has to change this weekend against the Badgers.
Notre Dame football wins a close one against Wisconsin
When all is said and done, I like the Irish to not only cover the spread in this one, as they are considered the underdog, but they should win this game outright. They have more talent on both sides of the ball, and their starting quarterback, Jack Coan, should have some added emotions going up against his old team.
Wisconsin is not too special on offense, but their defense is loaded, and they are getting Leo Chenal back after missing the first two games due to COVID. Luckily for the Irish, they have enough weapons on offense to beat such an elite defense, with Coan starting to trust his wide receivers more, and elite options at running back and tight end.
This game is going to go down to the wire, and the Irish have enough veteran players who have played in big games that will be the deciding factor down the stretch. This will be a game where the last team with the ball will likely win, and inside what should be a fired-up Soldier Field, the Irish move their record to 4-0.
Prediction: Notre Dame 21, Wisconsin 17
