Running Backs

The running backs aren’t getting any help at all from their offensive line. There is no push and there are no holes. That still doesn’t excuse this effort, which was abysmal throughout the day on offense.

To put it simply, Kyren Williams was supposed to be one of the best running backs in the country, and while he is flashing his skills, he can’t put things together. Again, blame the offensive line for a lot of that, but you also have to control the things that you can control. 1.8 yards per carry is absolutely abysmal. Chris Tyree, for all his speed, wasn’t much better.

Between the two backs, they had one catch and were just ok in pass protection. The real saving grace was Chris Tyree’s massive kick return for a touchdown, which gave Notre Dame the lead in the fourth quarter that they wouldn’t be giving back.

But, does that count as running back play or returner play?
