Notre Dame football vs. Cincinnati Bearcats: 3 things to watch

Irish quarterback play

The Irish have had an interesting season when it comes to the quarterback position, as we have seen all three step up in a big way in one way or another in 2021. Tyler Buchner has done a nice job sparking this offense with his feet, and when Jack Coan went down with an injury against Wisconsin, Drew Pyne stepped in and looked like a legitimate starter.

Against Cincinnati, we will see which quarterback combination is used, as Coan did get injured last week, but was at practice early this week, and could be trending towards playing. If he cannot go, Pyne will get the start as per Brian Kelly, with Buchner hopefully being healthy enough to come in and make a few plays as well.

We know how special Cincinnati is in terms of their quarterback, but the Irish are going to need whoever is under center to match him blow for blow on Saturday. If Notre Dame football can get strong quarterback play, as we saw from Pyne down the stretch against Wisconsin, this offense is going to be tough to stop.
