Notre Dame football: Who could be the next Irish head coach?

NFL Coaches

Eric Bieniemy-Kansas City Offensive Coordinator

The shouts for Eric Bieniemy to get a head coaching job are growing louder and louder by the minute. It’s really a shame and a shock that he hasn’t landed a head coaching job yet. Plus, as every Notre Dame football fan knows, bringing in an NFL offensive coordinator is a great way to give yourself a decided schematic advantage (Oh, hey there, Charlie Weis).

Seriously, though, Bieniemy is one of the most thoughtful offensive minds in the game today, he can connect well with players, and the connection makes sense as long as Bieniemy hires a staff capable of recruiting high school players. That’s the only question left to answer.

Joe Brady-Carolina Offensive Coordinator

Do you remember how bad LSU’s offense was under Les Miles, even though wide receivers like Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. were on those teams? Then do you remember how much time and effort Ed Orgeron put into modernizing their offense? It wasn’t working, until he hired Joe Brady from the New Orleans Saints to be his passing game coordinator.

Then, LSU had the best offense in college football history, which landed Brady the offensive coordinator job in Carolina. LSU, for their part, is back to trying to figure out modern offenses.

Brady might be an NFL guy at heart, but he’s more than capable of coaching circles around the college game. He could thrive in South Bend, if only he actually wanted to go back to college.

Kellen Moore-Dallas Offensive Coordinator

It wasn’t that long ago that Kellen Moore was dominating the WAC while at Boise State. Now, he’s the Cowboys offensive coordinator, and he’s widely considered to be one of the best young offensive coordinators in the sport. In other words, there’d be no worries about bringing Moore in to coach at Notre Dame.

Some concerns fans might have included whether or not Moore is capable of recruiting and if he wants to be a college or NFL coach. Moore would be a great on-field coach and he’s a rising name who could be around for a very long time.
