Notre Dame football vs. Cincinnati Bearcats: 4 Bold predictions in Week 5

Michael Young Will Score in South Bend

Show of hands, who remembers former Notre Dame football wide receiver, Michael Young? It was a few years ago now, so don’t feel bad if you do forget the wide receiver, but he’s now an important option in the Cincinnati Bearcats offense. On his return home to South Bend, expect Young to snag a touchdown pass for himself.

There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that the corners are the weakness of the Irish defense, and if Cincinnati wants to win, they need to exploit this and attack downfield. This means wide receivers like Michael Young are going to get a bunch of touches.

One of the key ways that Cincinnati is going to attack the Irish is by throwing downfield on Notre Dame. This will do a couple of key things. The first is that it will try and create a chunk play for momentum and field position against a defense that is going to let up a couple of big plays a game. It will also force the safeties, like Kyle Hamilton, backward and leave more room to run and work underneath.

So, watch out for number 8 when Desmond Ridder drops back to pass.
