Notre Dame football at Virginia Tech: 3 Irish players to watch

Isaiah Foskey

Coming into the season, the Notre Dame football team knew they would have to replace two solid edge rushers in Daelin Hayes and Ade Ogundeji, both of whom were drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft. One player they planned on leaning on was Isaiah Foskey, who has the size, speed, and athleticism to be an NFL player down the road as well.

In 2021, Foskey has been everything the Irish could have hoped for, as he has been a menace off the edge, and a real bright spot for this Notre Dame defense weekly. Through five games, Foskey has already matched the 4.5 sacks he had in nine games last season and is on pace to be a double-digit sack guy before all is said and done.

Notre Dame football has had its issues on both sides of the ball this season, but for the most part, Foskey has been solid. Against a Virginia Tech team with a dual-threat quarterback, he will have to once again live in the backfield, as his play will key whether or not the Irish leave Lane Stadium with a victory.
