Notre Dame football at Virginia Tech: 3 things to watch in Week 6

Reacting to the first loss of the season

The Irish went into their game against Cincinnati with high hopes, as they had struggled to start the season, but were still ranked in the top-10. In fact, a win against the No. 7 Bearcats could have catapulted them into a possible top-5 ranking and would be the final test against a ranked team on their schedule this season.

However, we all know what happened in that one, and with the loss, the Irish have not only hurt their CFP hopes but have also fallen to No. 14 overall in the latest AP Poll. Notre Dame football will look to get back on track against Virginia Tech on Saturday night, and it will be interesting to see how they rebound from their first loss of the season.

The Hokies are not going to be an easy opponent by any stretch, and playing on the road inside this environment is going to make for another tough game for the Irish. However, we will get to see their resolve after a tough loss at home, and it will be a good indicator of whether or not the team has given up on the 2021 campaign or not.
