Notre Dame football: 3 Reasonable expectations for the Irish in Week 6

Get Kyren Williams going

Last season, Kyren Williams was one of the better storylines for this Notre Dame football team, taking the bulk of the running duties for a team that went undefeated during the regular season. This year, he has been a victim of some shoddy play by the offensive line, and if we are expecting the line to be better in Week 6, Williams getting it going has to be expected as well.

There have been flashes from Williams this season, but nothing close to the dominant figure that was running all over ACC defenses a year ago. Expected to be his final season in South Bend, Williams has yet to eclipse the 100-yard mark this season and is currently averaging only 3.8 yards per carry.

If the Irish want to beat the Hokies on the road Saturday night, they have to extend drives and keep the Virginia Tech offense off the field as much as possible. Notre Dame can accomplish this by feeding Kyren Williams early and often, and not being so predictable on the offensive side of the ball, which could lead to a huge game for No. 23.
