Notre Dame football: 3 Reasonable expectations for the Irish in Week 6
Put four quarters together
It has been the same story all season long for the Fighting Irish, as they look terrible one moment, and then look like one of the best teams in the country the next. In Week 6, they have to put four solid quarters together, because if you let a team like Virginia Tech hang around, especially at home, it will come back to haunt you.
It seems like early on in games the play-calling is terrible, and the Irish are consistently playing from behind, which puts even more pressure on the defense, as well as their hurting offensive line. If Notre Dame can start fast, putting a few scoring drives together early, it will not only calm the stadium down but will put them in a position where they can control the clock and the tempo of the game.
The bottom line is, Lane Stadium is a tough place to play, and if the Irish want to come out with a victory on Saturday night, they have to tune out the noise. Virginia Tech has a solid home-field advantage in this one, but the Irish have enough veteran talent to go into a hostile environment and come away with a statement victory.
