The Notre Dame football team will beat the Virginia Tech Hokies inside Lane Stadium on Saturday night, and here is three reasons why.

The Notre Dame football team will have a hard time creeping back into the College Football Playoff picture, but that does not mean that all is lost with the 2021 college football season. We have seen plenty of teams lose this season, including shockingly from week to week, so the Irish are still very much in play.

However, for them to stay in play, they must win out, and they begin that question against Virginia Tech on Saturday night. Notre Dame football should win this one, and here is why.

The truth is, Virginia Tech is an unranked team, and barely beat Richmond this past week, this on the heels of a loss to West Virginia. While they did shock UNC in the season opener, this is by far an elite team, and being unranked, usually means that you will be beaten by a Brian Kelly-led Notre Dame football team.

As head coach of Notre Dame, Kelly has not lost to an unranked opponent in the last five years, which is a crazy statistic when you think about it. Sure, Notre Dame nearly lost to unranked teams in Florida State, Purdue, and Toledo this season, but the fact is, they did not, and that trend should continue inside Lane Stadium this weekend.
