The Notre Dame football team pulled out the win on Saturday night, and here are the studs and duds from the 32-29 victory against Virginia Tech.
In every game, there are going to be players who shine, and players who struggle over the course of four quarters, and that is no different for the Notre Dame football team. Those are the studs and duds of the game. This is a team sport, and everyone has some impact on the game.
However, the studs and duds in a game are the ones who had an inordinate impact in one way or another.
As for the studs, they deserve credit for a game that they thrived in, and they deserve to be highlighted as much as possible. The duds aren’t to call out players who didn’t play well, but they’re just to show which players can play better and have plenty of room to improve moving forward.
In any game, there are plenty of players who make a play or two that makes them stand out in one way or the other. That does have some impact on being a stud or dud, but it’s much more closely based on their performance over the entire course of the game.
It’s also worth pointing out that crediting or calling out an entire unit can be difficult. The offensive line, for instance, had a much-improved game, but as it’s a unit effort they’re difficult to credit one individual.
