Notre Dame Football: 3 games Irish fans should keep an eye on in Week 7

Oklahoma State at Texas

If Notre Dame football sees a successful season as going to a New Year’s Six Bowl, especially now that they’ve lost a game and the Playoff is off the table, then they need to make either the Peach Bowl or the Fiesta Bowl as an at-large. To do that, Notre Dame needs good, ranked teams to lose. Right now, Oklahoma State is unbeaten and seemingly on a collision course with Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship Game.

If they get there with less than one loss, then they’re almost certainly heading to the Fiesta Bowl.

In other words, Notre Dame fans need to root for Texas to help make sure that the Irish go to a New Year’s Six Bowl. Remember the 2019 season, when Notre Dame won 10 regular-season games and ended up at the Camping World Bowl? That’s an unfortunate reality of being Independent, as there is less margin for error at the end of the year.

On top of that, this should be an interesting game to watch. Oklahoma State hasn’t looked good, particularly on offense, but they keep winning. Their defense has been better than expected, though. Texas, meanwhile, looks great but has two losses.

Arkansas manhandled them and they just blew a massive lead in Red River to Oklahoma. Can the Longhorns bounce back? Do the Cowboys get their offense going? There are tons of storylines.

So, turn this Noon game on and enjoy some Big 12 football. It’s usually high-scoring and a bit sloppy. Almost the polar opposite of watching a Notre Dame game in 2021.
