The Notre Dame football team opens up their second-half slate against USC, and here are some reasonable expectations for the Irish in that one.

The time has come to kick off the second half of the Notre Dame football team’s season, and they will do so on Saturday night against a hated rival in USC. The Irish are off to a 5-1 start this season, but it has not been easy and going into a rivalry game, you never know what to expect.

Here we look at some reasonable expectations for Notre Dame Saturday night.

Notre Dame football: Reasonable expectations for the Irish against USC

Kyren Williams runs for over 100 yards

Going into the 2021 college football season, many expected monster numbers from Kyren Williams in the run game, especially with question marks at quarterback. Due to inconsistent play from the offensive line, Williams has yet to get it going this season, and still has not eclipsed the 100-yard mark in any game this Fall.

That is going to change on Saturday night, as Williams will be featured big-time in this offense, and will be looking to make a statement in primetime. The Irish are going to want to keep the USC offense on the sidelines, which could lead to more of a rushing attack, especially early on, and I believe the Trojans do not have enough on defense to consistently stop Williams all night long.
