Notre Dame football vs. UNC: 3 Tar Heels who must be stopped

Ty Chandler, Running Back

Last season, the North Carolina Tar Heels were loaded at the running back spot, as both Javonte Williams and Michael Carter are NFL players right now. However, against Notre Dame, the Tar Heels struggled mightily to run the football, something the Irish will hope repeats itself Saturday night under the lights.

While Williams and Carter are on another level, their current starting running back Ty Chandler, has proven to have some big-play ability as well. In the team’s wins against both Virginia and most recently, Miami (FL), Chandler has come up huge, rushing for a combined 303 yards in those two contests, while finding the end zone four times.

Chandler is a guy that must be stopped in Week 9 because if the Tar Heels can get it going on the ground, they have the passing attack to make this a tough out for the Irish defense. Chandler is the wild card when it comes to this offense, has scored in three straight games, and has averaged better than five yards per carry this season.
