Notre Dame football: 3 reasonable expectations for the Irish against UNC

Kyren Williams rushes for over 100 yards

Last weekend, we got to see the Kyren Williams from the 2020 college football season, as he ran all over the USC Trojans. Williams came into this season as one of the non-question marks on the offensive side of the ball, but due to some shoddy play along the offensive line, he had yet to get it going.

That all changed this past Saturday night, as Williams was once again the featured back for the Irish, and went off against the Trojans. All told, Williams rushed for 138 yards on 25 carries, finding the end zone twice on the ground, as he led an Irish offense that looked balanced for the first time all season.

The Tar Heels struggle against the run, making this a perfect matchup for Williams and this revamped Notre Dame offensive line. The play should be to get him going early and often, and there is no reason why a back-to-back 100-yard effort is not in the cards for him on Saturday night.
