The Notre Dame football team defeated the Mack Brown-led UNC Tar Heels, 44-34, on Saturday night, moving their record to 7-1.

The Notre Dame football moved to 7-1 on the season with a 44-34 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels under the lights. The Irish offense continue to improve while the Notre Dame defense showed the effects of losing all-American free safety Kyle Hamilton.

For the Irish, this was a big win, as many circled their two-game stretch when the schedule was announced as must-win games for their College Football Playoff chances. Both USC and UNC were supposed to have high-octane offenses led by possible first-round quarterbacks, but the Notre Dame football team was able to come away with wins in both games.

This starts an easier stretch for the Irish, as they welcome Navy to town this weekend, and are currently 22-point favorites. They then take on Virginia and Georgia Tech before hitting the road for a season finale at Stanford, so 11-1 is certainly still on the table.

Here is a review of the best and worst of Saturday’s triumph over the North Carolina Tar Heels. Let’s start with the studs.
