Notre Dame football vs. Navy Midshipmen: 3 bold predictions in Week 10

Notre Dame QBs Run for More Touchdowns Than Navy’s

Navy is always going to be known for their rushing quarterbacks. That’s where the reliance on the triple-option comes into play. Quarterbacks for Navy decide to give it the fullback, pitch to a running back or wing-back or keep it themselves on most offensive plays. To do this, you need to be fast, tough, and smart. It also leads to a lot of touchdown runs by Navy quarterbacks.

They won’t have more rushing touchdowns than the Notre Dame quarterbacks, though.

This is because of a couple of different reasons. The first is that the Notre Dame defense is full of athletes who can run all over the place. They’re going to be difficult for Navy to score on more than a couple of times all game, let alone letting their quarterbacks get into the endzone. On the other hand, Notre Dame has a quarterback in Tyler Buchner who likes to run around the field. He comes in and effectively runs the read option and is capable of busting open long runs. That’s before you consider the times Jack Coan takes off and tries to run.

So, Notre Dame quarterbacks will have more opportunities to score than Navy’s, and they’ll take advantage as the Irish offense looks to roll as much as possible.
