Notre Dame football vs. Navy: 3 Midshipmen who must be stopped
Tai Lavatai, Quarterback
The Navy Midshipmen have someone they can trust under center in the person of Tai Lavatai, who did not do much of anything with his arm last weekend. In fact, across the first six games of the season, Lavatai has yet to eclipse the 300-yard mark in total passing yards, giving you a look at what they like to do offensively.
However, while the passing statistics are not there, he is a guy who runs the offense to perfection, and it is a strange one to defend against. Lavatai and fellow sophomore Xavier Arline has split some time this season with Lavatai having to battle through an injury, but this is his team now and will see the majority of the reps at quarterback if the game is close.
Quarterbacks who run this kind of offense are very hard to figure out, but Notre Dame football has an advantage due to the fact they have so much talent within their front-7. They should be able to keep Lavatai in check in the run game, and hopefully, that leads to some mistakes if they try and go to the air.
