The Notre Dame football team took care of business against Navy on Saturday afternoon, and here are three things we learned in the victory.

The Notre Dame football team once again got off to a slow start to a lesser team, as they were down 3-0 going into the second quarter of their matchup against the Navy Midshipmen. However, the team dominated in both the second and fourth quarters of this matchup, putting Navy away with 17 straight to close the game.

With the win, the Irish move to 8-1 on the season with three games left, and here, we look at some things we learned in the win against Navy.

Irish are very much alive in the CFP race

Going into this game, the Irish were ranked at No. 10 in the initial CFP rankings, well outside of the top-4 that get to go to the Big Dance. However, as we see every weekend, things change in college football, as there are top-10 upsets every week, and the Irish will benefit from some of that this weekend.

As of the end of the Irish’s win against Navy, Wake Forest, the team right in front of Notre Dame in the CFP ranking has lost, and Purdue, who the Irish beat this season, throttled No. 3 Michigan State. Later on, the Oregon Ducks have a tough game against rival Washington, and Indiana could prove to be a threat to Michigan, who is coming off their first loss of the season.
