Notre Dame football vs. Navy Midshipmen: 3 Surprises

The play of Kevin Austin Jr.

The Notre Dame football team has been looking for a consistent playmaker at the wide receiver position all season long, and on Saturday, they got exactly what they have been looking for. Senior Kevin Austin Jr. was as dominant as we have ever seen him in this one, hauling in six receptions for nearly 140 yards and a touchdown.

His touchdown came at an opportune time as well, as he caught a 70-yard dime from Jack Coan right before halftime to give the Irish what seemed to be an insurmountable 17-3 lead. He would go on to catch a few balls in the second half as well, putting together the best game of his Notre Dame career.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see how Austin finishes out his Irish career, as he is a guy that is loaded with talent and should be playing on Sundays. Austin has been through a lot in his career, and things seem to finally be coming together for a player that is going to play a huge role on this offense down the stretch.
