Notre Dame football vs. Navy Midshipmen: 3 Surprises

True freshmen playing big roles

Throughout the 2021 college football season, we have seen the Notre Dame football team sprinkle in true freshman quarterback Tyler Buchner. Buchner has responded by showing he could be a real playmaker for this program, getting the job done with his arm, and his legs, and he is someone to certainly be excited about.

Recently, we have started to see more of running back Logan Diggs, who will likely be the one who takes over for Kyren Williams when the star running back likely heads to the NFL this offseason. The wide receiver duo of Lorenzo Styles Jr. and Deion Colzie is going to be a special group, and Prince Kollie racked up three tackles in the win against Navy as well.

We are starting to come down the stretch in terms of the 2021 college football season, so we should see the true freshmen continue to get playing time. The Irish are favored to win the next three games, and an 11-1 record is a real possibility, but looking at the way the younger players have played this season, even brighter times are ahead.
