The Notre Dame football team moved their record to 8-1 on the season in Week 10 and should move up in the latest CFP ranking.

The Notre Dame football team will have their eyes on the latest CFP ranking when it comes out on Tuesday, as they look to continue to try and move their way up to a possible shot at a national title. That is going to be tough for them to do, and we would be having a totally different conversation if they were able to take care of business against Cincinnati earlier this season.

Notre Dame football did move up in the latest AP Poll, moving up one spot to No. 7 overall, as they leapfrogged Michigan State, who lost badly to Purdue this past weekend. It is going to be very hard for the Irish to get into the top-5, especially if Cincinnati keeps winning because that loss against the Bearcats will loom large with voters.

We have said that Notre Dame needs to win big to continue to move up these rankings, and they did dominate Navy last weekend in terms of the final score, but it took a 17-point fourth quarter to come away with the 34-6 victory.

Last week, the Irish were ranked inside the top-10, coming in at No. 10 overall, and they should move up once again this week. Wake Forest lost to North Carolina this past weekend, a team that the Irish beat, so Notre Dame should move past them, a team that was ranked at No. 9 overall in the initial ranking.

The Spartans did lose this week, but they were the No. 3 seed, so I do not seem falling all the way out of the top-10. However, Notre Dame did beat Purdue this season, so that could be on the voters’ minds, so moving up to No. 8 could also be a possibility for the Irish when the second rankings are revealed.

In the end, Ohio State is likely to jump into the top-4, with my prediction being:

  1. Georgia, 2. Alabama, 3. Oregon, 4. Ohio State
