The Notre Dame football team is getting great play from their true freshmen as of late, including wide receiver Lorenzo Styles Jr.

The Notre Dame football team is on a roll right now, as they have looked more complete on offense, and the defense has really stepped up in the absence of star safety Kyle Hamilton. However, a key injury to the wide receiver group happened their last time out against Navy, and the program will turn to a true freshman to help fill the void this weekend against the University of Virginia on the road.

Looking at the depth chart put out by Irish Breakdown, it will be Lorenzo Styles Jr. making his first collegiate start this weekend, and rightfully so. This is a kid who has gotten better every week and is one of the future stars for the program at the wide receiver position.

Across his last three games, Styles Jr. has been more involved in the offense, hauling in three passes in both the USC and UNC games. Against the Trojans, Styles had the best game of his collegiate career, as those three catches went for 74 yards, including his first collegiate touchdown.

Notre Dame football lost Avery Davis for the season

The one glaring sad story to come out of the win against Navy was the loss of Avery Davis to a torn ACL in the contest. One of the heart and soul players on this Notre Dame football team, Davis is a player that will certainly be missed on and off the field, but you know he will be cheering on his teammates as they go into the stretch run.

We have already seen some playmaking ability from Styles Jr., and on Saturday night, you can expect him to impact this game in a big way. Notre Dame football is getting great play from their true freshmen this season, and one can only think the program is going to go to new heights in the next few seasons.
