Notre Dame football at Virginia: 3 Irish players to watch

Isaiah Foskey

The 2020 college football season was an outstanding one for this Notre Dame football program, as they ran through their ACC slate of games undefeated, and earned an appearance in the College Football Playoff. Two big contributors on that team were defensive ends Daelin Hayes and Ade Ogundeji, two guys who would play their way into being 2021 NFL draft picks.

To replace those two elite defensive ends, the program turned to Isaiah Foskey, who got solid playing time for that 2020 team but has taken his game to the next level in 2021. Foskey leads the Irish with eight sacks, and it will be up to him to make life very tough on Armstrong if he is the one under center on Saturday night.

Foskey is another Irish player that is roaring up draft boards, and he could be in for a huge game against the Cavaliers in this one. Last weekend against BYU, the Cavaliers allowed only one sack, as they did a tremendous job keeping Armstrong upright, something that won’t be the case when it comes to Foskey in this one.
