Notre Dame football: 3 Keys to victory against Virginia in Week 11

Four quarters of football

Finally, we get to the one issue that has plagued this Notre Dame football team all season long, and that is playing four quarters of football. The Irish have shown themselves to be a dominant team in nearly every game this season, but they have also looked so beatable on so many occasions, especially against lesser teams.

On Saturday night, the Irish need to get out to a fast start, as they cannot afford to let Virginia think they have any chance of winning this game in front of the home fans. Against Navy last Saturday, they went into the fourth quarter only up 17-3, and it took a dominant effort in the final frame to put the Midshipmen away.

Notre Dame football is by far the better team in this matchup, but they were also better than Navy and Toledo, teams they needed the fourth quarter to beat. If they can control the ball, harass Brennan Armstrong, and win the battle in the trenches, this one should not even be close.
