Notre Dame football: 3 reasons the Irish will beat Virginia in Week 11

Brennan Armstrong is hurting

When it comes to this Virginia football team, the heart and soul is quarterback Brennan Armstrong, who can light up a box score with the best of them. Armstrong and this offense love to chuck the football, sometimes better than 40 times per game, which is something that Marcus Freeman will have to game plan for.

Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, Armstrong is hurting heading into this matchup, and we won’t really know if he is going to start the game until close to kickoff. That not only hurts Virginia but also the Irish, who will see a true freshman start under center if Armstrong cannot go.

Even if Armstrong plays, you have to think that the Irish defense is going to try and make life very difficult for him. I could see plenty of blitzes in this matchup, as they look to put him on the ground time and time again, hopefully getting him out of rhythm in what could be a very prolific passing attack.
