The Notre Dame basketball team kicks off their 2021-22 season today, as they play host to CSU Northridge inside Purcell Pavilion.

The time has finally come for the Notre Dame basketball team to kick off their 2021-22 season, and they will do so against the CSU Northridge Matadors. The Irish are coming off another season on the outside looking in at the NCAA Tournament, a trend that must end if Mike Brey is to continue as the program’s head coach.

Luckily for Brey, he has a group returning that he can certainly trust, as it is a veteran-laden lineup featuring one of the top point guards in the ACC in Prentiss Hubb. In 2020-21, Hubb emerged as a true leader of this team, a group that also saw the emergence of Nate Laszewski, a smooth big man who can light it from the inside, out.

In Game No. 1, the Irish should roll, as they take on a Matadors team that was blown out by 40 points in their season opener on the road against USC back on November 9. In that game, guards Atin Wright and Darius Brown II led the team with ten points apiece.
