Notre Dame football: 3 reasonable expectations against Virginia in Week 11
Defense forces two-plus turnovers
The Notre Dame defense has played very well the last few times out, beating some solid teams in USC and UNC, before dominating Navy. In that game against the Midshipmen, Marcus Freeman dialed up a tremendous gameplan, holding Navy to only two field goals in the game during the 34-6 victory at home inside Notre Dame Stadium/
Tonight, he has a bigger task at hand, and that will be stopping an elite passing attack led by Brennan Armstrong if he is in fact healthy enough to go. While Armstrong can certainly hurt you, as he leads the FBS in total yards going into this week, Freeman will certainly have a tremendous game plan to shut him down in this one.
I like for Virginia to try and throw it over 40 times against this Notre Dame defense, giving the Irish plenty of opportunities to force some key turnovers. There will be a ton of pressure on Armstrong throughout, and if he does decide to make some plays under pressure, the Irish defense should net themselves at least two turnovers on Saturday night.
