The Notre Dame football team beat the Virginia Cavaliers in Week 11, and here are three big surprises from the dominant victory on the road.

The Notre Dame football team knows they have to win out to have any chance at a College Football Playoff appearance, and they continue to stack wins. The Irish went on the road and absolutely blew away the Virginia Cavaliers in Week 11, moving their record to 9-1 on the season.

Here are three surprises from the win against Virginia.

Cavaliers offense sputters

Going into this matchup, the Cavaliers were one of the more prolific offenses in college football, and many felt they would be able to move the ball against this Irish defense. However, that was not the case, and while it is not a surprise that the defense was able to succeed against Virginia, especially with Brennan Armstrong out, how much they dominated was surprising.

The Notre Dame defense did not allow a touchdown for the second week in a row, styling the Cavaliers offense time and time again in this matchup. With a true freshman under center in Jay Woolfolk, Virginia could not get anything going, and whenever Marcus Freeman brought the pressure, he did not have enough experience to make plays happen.
