Notre Dame football at Virginia: 3 Surprises in the Week 11 victory

Logan Diggs continues to dominate on the ground

Going into this season, the Notre Dame football team knew they had a star at running back, this after Kyren Williams ran for over 1,100 yards as a redshirt freshman in 2020. Behind Williams was talent as well, as Chris Tyree did a nice job as a true freshman last season, and is a guy who can be featured in the run and passing game.

As the Irish come down the stretch, Williams is playing out his mind, and will certainly be at least a Day 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. While Tyree has made some kind of impact, it has been a true freshman that has stepped up as the true No. 2 running back on this roster, and that man is Logan Diggs.

Diggs has been getting more and more work as the season has rolled on, and we have seen him now string together three straight solid games for the Irish. In fact, Diggs has set his career-high in each of the last three games, and while he did not score a touchdown for the third straight game, he did average over seven yards per carry, and all signs point to him being a legitimate playmaker for this program in 2022 and beyond.
