Notre Dame football: Projecting the starting lineup for the 2022 season

Offense

The Notre Dame football team is getting great play from some young stars this season, including Tyler Buchner, who should be the team’s starting quarterback in 2022. Buchner has shown that he can get the job done with his arm, and his legs, giving this offense an incredible dynamic under center.

We have also seen the emergence of Logan Diggs at running back, who has star written all over him, and Lorenzo Styles Jr., who is an incredible deep threat. Looking ahead, this offense has a lot of big-play ability, and it will be interesting to see how Tommy Rees deploys all these weapons.

Here is what the starting offense could look like in Week 1 of the 2022 college football season.

  • QB- Tyler Buchner
  • RB- Chris Tyree, Logan Diggs
  • WR- Kevin Austin and Braden Lenzy
  • WR-SL- Lorenzo Styles
  • TE- Michael Mayer
  • LT- Blake Fisher
  • LG- Andrew Kristofic
  • C- Zeke Correll
  • RG- Rocco Spindler
  • RT- Joe Alt

The offensive line should also take a big step forward in 2022, and they had some growing pains in 2021. Blake Fisher will return as the starting left tackle, moving Joe Alt to right tackle, giving the Irish an incredible duo as bookends for Buchner next season.
