The Notre Dame football team got off to a rocky start to the 2021 college football season, but they have been a machine down the stretch.

The Notre Dame football team looked left for dead inside Notre Dame Stadium a few months back, as they lost to the Cincinnati Bearcats embarrassingly. After the game, it looked like an incredible longshot that they would make the College Football Playoff, but with a few weeks left in the regular season, they are legitimate contenders.

That is because the Irish have bonded together to become a true team, showing great promise on both sides of the ball with a mix of young, as well as veteran players. This is the true definition of a team, and there is a lot more confidence when they take the field than there was earlier in the season.

With two games left in the regular season, the Irish have bounced back, sporting a 9-1 record and a No. 8 spot in the CFP ranking. There is a lot left to do, but excitement continues to grow around the 2021 Irish.

Notre Dame football dominating on both sides of the ball

The big difference recently has been how balanced the Irish have been on both sides of the ball, dominating on defense, while showing they can run and pass on offense. The defense has not allowed a touchdown in two weeks, the running game is back, and Jack Coan is playing the way the program expected him to when he transferred from Wisconsin.

This weekend, the Irish take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and they are expected to absolutely pounce on them inside Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday. That would move their record to 10-1, and with a win on the road against Stanford, they would be a one-loss Notre Dame football team, putting them in a position to make the CFP.

In the end, the Irish have done everything they can after the Cincinnati loss to put themselves in a position to make the College Football Playoff, and now, all they can do is win out and hope the chips fall in the right direction. Notre Dame football has had a special season, and hopefully, they get another kick at the can in terms of the CFP when all is said and done.
