Notre Dame football makes another statement for a CFP berth vs Georgia Tech
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football team pummeled the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday in a game that got out of hand early inside Notre Dame Stadium.
Heading into their matchup with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Notre Dame football team was looking to make another statement for a possible CFP berth. They have looked outstanding since the bye week, dominating every team that has come within their path, and on Saturday against Georgia Tech, they had their most complete game of the season.
From the outset, it was clear the Irish were the better team, and it felt like it was 24-0 in the blink of an eye. They had a perfect game plan on defense, ran the ball effectively behind Kyren Williams, and once again saw true freshman Logan Diggs emerge as a potential superstar for this program.
We talked before the game about the Irish starting strong, and start strong they did, cruising to a 45-0 lead at the half. It was an incredible effort on Senior Day, as the Irish beat the Yellow Jackets in style in what will prove to be the last home game for a special group of players.
Notre Dame football moves to 10-1 on the season
With the win, the Irish are in a great position to move up in the latest CFP ranking, as this is the kind of win that gets the attention of the voters. While Georgia Tech was riding a four-game losing streak, they are still an ACC team that blew out UNC this season, barely lost to Clemson, and had a road win against Duke.
Notre Dame displayed a balanced attack on offense, and the defense was downright special, as the controlled the line of scrimmage throughout. Overall, this was the best win of the season for Notre Dame football, and going on the road against Stanford in Week 13, an 11-1 record is definitely in the cards.
This was the kind of win the Irish needed, as they have to continue to show the College Football Playoff voters that they belong in the final four. With the way they played on Saturday, dominating on both sides of the ball, they have a legitimate shot to make their second CFP appearance in a row.
