Notre Dame football: 3 surprises from Week 12 against Georgia Tech

Holding Jahmyr Gibbs in check

Going into their matchup with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Notre Dame football team needed to stop one player on the offensive side of the ball. That player is freshman Jahmyr Gibbs, who came into the game leading the team in both rushing and receiving yards and looking to set the program’s single-season yardage record.

However, while Gibbs has been dominant all season long, he was not dominant on this afternoon, as the Notre Dame football team certainly had his number. Gibbs ran for only 58 yards on 12 carries, and incredibly, did not haul in a single reception throughout.

This was a real testament to Marcus Freeman and this Notre Dame defense, one who has not allowed a single touchdown in the last three games. The Irish are firing on all cylinders, and to stop a player of Gibbs caliber throughout shows that the defense is clicking at the right time heading into the season finale, and possibly the CFP.
