Notre Dame football beat Georgia Tech 55-0. That type of final score doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when one team dominates the other in a nearly unholy way. It’s a total team effort, in all three phases of the game, offense, defense, and special teams. Here, we’ll focus on the offense, giving out grades to each unit on the offense.
24 points in the first quarter. 45 points in the first half. Georgia Tech was knocked down to the mat and didn’t even try to get up. It was the best passing performance in more than two months. Everything about the game was shocking in how easy it seemed to be.
After all, this is a Georgia Tech team that will claim to still be rebuilding after the triple-option era, but it’s been three seasons now and it shouldn’t have hurt the defense this much.
In a lot of ways, Notre Dame jumped to a big lead and Georgia Tech rolled over. For their part, the Irish never took their foot off the Yellow Jackets’ throats. It was exactly what the Irish are usually missing against inferior competition. It was pure domination.
It also has set Notre Dame up in a position to make a College Football Playoff push.
There is something special about this Notre Dame team that was incredibly stressful during the first half of this season. That growth has been amazing to see.
