Notre Dame football vs. Georgia Tech: Offensive Grades for 2021 Week 12

Quarterbacks

On Senior Day, it was always going to Jack Coan’s day to shine. Well, he did more than shine, he dominated Georgia Tech’s overmatched secondary, throwing for 285 yards and 2 TDs. It was the kind of performance that Coan has been missing all season long. He could push the ball downfield and find a variety of wide receivers open underneath.

Coan spent the entire game in a good rhythm, getting the ball out of his hands on time. Georgia Tech didn’t do anything to make him sweat either. Outside of a couple of sacks to end the opening drive, it didn’t seem like Coan had to break a sweat against the Yellow Jackets.

Tyler Buchner mostly played during the second half, once the game was already decided. He wasn’t spectacular throwing the ball, only going 3/6 for 17 yards. However, he did put on a highlight show in the running game, showing just how explosive and dynamic he can be in the running game.

If he becomes a more confident passer and quicker decision-maker, he’s going to be a problem for opposing teams in coming seasons.

From top to bottom, this type of performance is how Notre Dame can finally win a major bowl game. It’s how they finish the regular season 11-1, and it’s incredibly exciting.
